Transition to Gold Open Access

In January 2021, the journal will be transitioning from a Subscription publishing model to Gold Open Access, meaning that all published articles will be immediately free to access, read and download for all. In addition, the Journal will be moving its publishing operations from Springer Nature to Frontiers. The Arányi Lajos Foundation continues to own the Journal.

Please note that if you submit your manuscript from June 30th, 2020 onwards, your manuscript will be processed with Frontiers for publication in January 2021 (if finally accepted during 2020).

Articles submitted after June 30th 2020 until the transition, will be subject to a reduced Article Processing Charge of $2,000 for Category A articles (Original Research or Reviews). For Category B articles (Editorials, Commentaries and Letters to the Editor), the APC will be $900. For manuscripts submitted by authors at Semmelweis University, the APC will be further reduced to $1,200 for Category A articles and $650 for Category B articles.

The regular APC in the new Gold Open Access model valid for submissions from January 1st, 2021 onwards will be $2,500 for Original Articles, Reviews, Case Reports, Brief Research Reports and Mini-Reviews (Category A articles). The APC for Editorials, Commentaries and Letters (Category B articles) will be $900. For manuscripts submitted by authors at Semmelweis University, the APC will be further reduced to $1,200 for Category A articles and $650 for Category B articles.
